We had an amazing December on the farm this year, filled with lots of holiday spirit! We started the season off strong with hosting Johnny’s Christmas Trees again! The farm was filled by lush trees, giving it a charming, classic Christmas scent. We gathered a variety of foliage throughout the season and created over 50 unique wreaths. Not only did we sell wreaths in our farm store, but we hosted a Wreath Making Workshop which was a huge success. We had a great time helping guests getting creative with their wreaths—some adding loud jingling bells and big ribbons, while others opted for traditional cinnamon sticks and dried citrus.
Our second event of the holiday season was a Gingerbread House Workshop hosted with Santa! This event was a hit, and sold out each time we released more tickets. While assembling over 50 gingerbread houses, we quickly learned melted sugar (structure support) was the way to go! On the morning of the event, we transformed the barn into a winter wonderland. A snow machine greeted guests at the entrance, twinkling Christmas lights draped the ceilings, tables wrapped with festive paper, and Santa waiting to meet the kids! After amazing feedback, we plan on hosting this event again next December!
We wanted to offer more opportunities for kids to meet Santa, so we partnered with Rice, Beans & Happiness to host a breakfast! The response was overwhelming, with over 100 tickets sold, our barn buzzed with lively excitement throughout the morning! The breakfast made by Beans Rice & Happiness was amazing as always.
Following our lively Gingerbread House Workshop and Breakfast with Santa, we took a more relaxed approach for those who enjoy a quiet and calm holiday setting. The following Friday, we hosted a movie night in the barn, complete with a candy bar, concessions, an open bar, numerous couches and loungers, and cozy blankets. It provided a perfect opportunity for close family and friends to bond. This event gave us the opportunity to play with our new freeze dryer! We spent hours freeze-drying dozens of candies for our guests to try ranging from gummy bears and skittles to Twix and mocha m&ms. We certainly piqued some interest around the farm for exploring more with freeze-dried candy in the future!
We wrapped the season off with a bang! Hosting cookies with Santa 2 days before Christmas. We got right to work, making enough cookies for our 80 planned arrivals! This totaled in making just under 300 organic sugar cookies, 40 bags of homemade frosting, 160 tins of decorations, and lots of napkins for clean-up! This proved to be our most successful event yet, selling out even before its official release on social media! Santa stole the spotlight, making a grand entrance in a baker’s uniform, distributing personalized sugar cookies to each child, and spreading joy with a cheerful smile and a booming laugh.
Thank you to everyone who came and supported the farm this holiday season. We are so grateful for all the support and are excited to see what the next holiday season looks like.
